The people are against the construction of the pier for mining. On May 30, 2022, BIGKIS ng Mangingisda in Sta. Cruz, Pangasinan, together with a PDI organizer initiated a meeting attended by the residents and fishermen and passed a resolution protesting against the construction of the pier and to bring the matter to the LGUs at the barangay, municipal and provincial levels, as well as to BFAR and DENR.
